Konark is a city in the state of Odisha. The city is famous all over the world for its Sun Temple. The city has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Konark also has an annual dance festival called the Konark Dance Festival. Sun Temple
The Sun Temple has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site. This temple is an important tourist destination in the state of Odisha. This temple is dedicated to Lord Surya. Built in the form of a huge chariot of the Sun God in this temple, it is shown pulling a chariot by a group of seven horses. The temple receives direct sunlight in the morning, afternoon, and evening. The temple is credited to King Narasimhadev I of the Eastern Ganga dynasty around 1250 CE. The temple was called the “Black Pagoda” in the European sailor account in early 1676 because it looked as black as a great tower.
Chandrabhaga Beach
Chandrabhaga beach was earlier considered as a place of natural cure for leprosy. This beach has become the first country in India to get the Blue Flag certificate. Chandrabhaga Beach is the most beautiful and pollution-free beach in the country. Many cultural and religious events are organized on this beach.
ASI MuseumÂ
The ASI Museum was established in 1968. The museum is located near the Konark Sun Temple. The museum has 4 galleries featuring more than 260 sculptures and architectural escorts. This museum is the most popular place among the history lovers of Odisha. The museum has a collection of 250 different types of antiques from the Sun Temple.
Astaranga Beach
AstaRanga Beach gets its name from the scenic beauty of the colorful full-sky scene during sunset. The name Asta Ranga means colorful sunset. The beach is famous for the Jahaniya Peer shrine – which is revered by both Hindus and Muslims. Here the sky takes on vivid color and the blue water makes the whole place look magical with its extinction. Astaranga Beach is a famous fishing village. There is a fish market here every morning. Casuarina trees have been planted in a wide area to provide shade to the tourists coming here.
