Gandikota is also known as the Grand Canyon of India. Flanked by River Pennar on the right side, the village is popular for the spectacular gorges formed by the river cutting through Erramala Hills. Gandikota is a small village in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Gandikota was the capital of Pemmasani Nayaks for more than 300 years.

There is a fort here. This rigid fort is equipped with Pennar gorges on both sides and is protected by a majestic wall of 5 miles. The fort is constructed of red sandstone. The narrow valleys with streams running between them and the steep rocky walls to give them company remind one of the  Illustrious Grand valleys in Arizona

Madhavaraya Temple

The Madhavaraya temple is dedicated to one of the three main deities of Lord Vishnu. The Madhavaraya temple has many statues and is a living masterpiece of ancient architecture. Various Hindu gods and goddesses have been erected on the walls of the temple. The temple is located west of Gandikota village. This temple was built during the reign of Shri Krishna Dev Rai of the Vijayanagar Kingdom. The Madhavaraya temple has many sculptures of Hindu deities and carvings on its pillars and walls.

Jamia Masjid

The Jamia Masjid is built inside the fort premises. The mosque is another prominent religious structure. Here are the methods that symbolize various aspects of Islamic culture and architecture. The Jamia Masjid in Gandikota is very grand in size and looks just like the Charminar in Hyderabad. Carved out of red sandstone, the walls are covered with intricate designs. With many green trees in the vicinity, you can also find a lot of people camping here.

Mylavaram Dam

The dam is built on the Penna River. Mylavaram Dam is also known as Tatireddy Narasimha Reddy Reservoir. Construction of the dam was completed by the end of 1981-82. To attract the tourists coming here and there, tourists are involved in various water sports activities like speed boats, kayaking, etc.
