Barsana is a Nagar panchayat and a historical town in the Mathura district. Barsana was the home of Krishna’s consort Radha Rani. It is located in the Region of Brij.
Rangeeli Mahal Barsana
Rangeeli Mahal is located at Barsana, the eternal abode of Shri Radharani. It was established in 1996 and is one of the main centers of Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat. Describing the pride of Barsana Dham, Shri Maharaj Ji said that this Barsana Dham is the abode of divine Barsana. In the Rangeeli Mahal, there is a large Satsang hall, which has depictions of Shri Radha Krishna pastimes all around the hall. Waterfalls, beautifully landscaped gardens, and other attractions are also here who make the atmosphere more divine and enjoyable.
Kirti Mandir is a temple located in the Barsana. it is the temple of the Hindu deity Kirti who was the mother of Shri Radha Rani, hence, This temple is the only one of its kind in the world. The inauguration of the temple was done on February 10, 2019, on the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami. This temple is named after Shri Radharani’s mother Kirti Maiya. Here in the temple, baby Radha Rani is seen sitting in the lap of her mother, which is a unique sight for the visitors, and it is seen here only from all over the world. Built by Jagadguru Kripalu Parishad, this temple is the vision of Jagadguru Kripaluji Maharaj who suggested it.
Shri Nandbaba Temple
The Nandgaon is located about 8.5 km away to the north of Barsana. The royal palace of Nanda Maharaj is situated there. Krishna spent much of their childhood and youth in humor with mother Yashoda, Father Nandbaba, and brother Baldev here. Every day mother Yashoda used to decorate Krishna and Balaram in different ways. they go with their friends to cow grazing daily. mother Yashoda used to put Radharani in her lap before seeing her with teary eyes here.
Lord Shiva pleased his revered deity Shri Krishna and asked for blessings to witness the humor of his childhood. Shri Krishna was pleased with him and asked him to sit in the form of a hill in Nandgaon. so further Lord Shiva became Nandeshwar Hill at Nandgaon. Nand Baba’s palace is located on Nandeshwar hill.
Holi celebration – Lathmar
Barsana and Nandgaon are famous for their Holi celebration known as Lathmar Holi. It’s celebrated one day before the actual Holi. On this day, the woman beats the men with a stick And men protect themselves as much as possible from the use of shields. This is why this celebration is known as Lathmar, where Lath means stick and mar means to hit.
