Bareilly is a city located in the Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh. It is the geographical area of Rohilkhand. and also It is the capital of the Bareilly division. The city is 252 kilometers away from northwest of Lucknow, the state capital. It’s 250 km away from the east of the national capital New Delhi. Bareilly is the 50th largest city in India and its eighth largest metropolis in Uttar Pradesh. In Narendra Modi’s list of India’s 100 most ambitious smart cities, Bareilly was ranked. It is located on the Ramganga River where Ramganga Barrage built for canal irrigation.
Seven Shiva temple is located in Bareilly that’s why it also is known as Nath Nagri.
According to the epic Mahabharata, the Bareilly region, It was called Panchal at that time, is said to be the birthplace of Draupadi, also known as ‘Panchali’ by Lord Krishna.
Bareilly Sharif Dargah
Bareilly Sharif Dargah is also called Dargah-e-Aala Hazrat. It is the dargah or monument of Ahmed Raza Khan located in the city of Bareilly. he was known for his staunch opposition to the Wahhabis in India and He was an Ahle Sunnat in the 19th century. The dome of the dargah was built using match sticks by Shah Mahmood Jan Qadri.
