Nubra is located in the Union Territory of Ladakh, India. Its inhabited areas are formed by triangular armed valleys cut by the Nubra and Shyok rivers. Nubra Valley is located on the ancient Silk Route. In its valley are the rivers Shyok and Nubra and there are some beautiful monasteries. It is also famous for its Hippophae shrub, popularly known as Leh Berry. The name Nubra Valley means Western Valley. The traditional name of the region is Dumra, which means “valley of flowers“.With arid mountains in the backdrop, Nubra Valley is famous for the Bactrian camel rides.

Panamik village
Panamik is a small but beautiful village. The hot springs in this village are very famous. This village is considered to be therapeutic. The tiny hamlet is also known for the Pashmina goats and the Bactrian camels. The Panamik Ansa also serves as the base of the monastery track. Panamik village is located near the Siachen Glacier. While at Panamik village, one can also indulge in shopping for some beautiful Pashmina shawls, woollen socks, walnuts, apples, Kashmiri carpets, apricots, and some exquisite Kashmiri or Tibetan artefacts.
Yarab Tso
Yarab Tso is a holy place. Yarab Tso is a small but beautiful lake. Lake Yarab Tso is also known as the “hidden lake“.The Nubra Valley is considered one of the holiest and highest lakes. Yarab Tso is considered very respectable among the locals of this area.
Diskit monastery
Diskit Monastery is considered to be the largest monastery in the Nubra Valley. Diskit Monastery is one of the oldest monasteries. The monastery was built in the 14th century. The gompa has a statue of a deity with mummified human armour and ahead in his hand. Diskit Monastery is a monastery of the Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism. There is a statue of Cho Rinpoche in the prayer hall of the monastery. The monastery was founded by Changzem Tsrab Zhangpo, a disciple of Song Khapa. A festival is celebrated here which is known as the Festival of the Scapegoat. This festival is celebrated in February during the winter.

Nubra Valley is famous for the Bactrian Camel Safari. The Bactrian camel also is known as the Mongolian camel. This camel species is found mainly in Central Asia. These Hundur camels have a capacity of carrying 2-3 people at a time. One of the features of this camel is that it has two humps on its back. Its two million population exists primarily in pet form. Domesticated Bactrian camels have served as pack animals in Intrinsic Asia since ancient times.
