Udupi also spelled Udipi and also known as Odipu. It’s a city located in the state of Karnataka. It is located about 422 km west of the state capital Bangalore and about 55 km north of the educational, commercial & industrial hub Mangalore by road. It’s one of the fastest-growing cities in Karnataka and also the administrative headquarters of the Udupi District. it has various educational institutions and is one of the top tourist attractions in Karnataka. It is notable for the Krishna Temple. It’s also known as Temple City.

Sri Krishna Temple 

Sri Krishna Temple of Udupi is a famous Hindu temple dedicated to the god Krishna and Dvaita Matha. The Matha area is like a living Ashram, a sacred place for daily devotion and subsistence. There are many temples around Shri Krishna Temple like Udupi Anantheshwara Temple which is 1000 years old. In the 13th century, Krishna matha was founded by Vaishnavite saint Jagadguru Shri Madhvacharya. He was the founder of the Dvaita school of Vedanta. 

St. Mary’s Islands

St. Mary’s Islands, also known as Thonsepar and Coconut Island, and is a group of four small islands in the Arabian Sea off the coast of Malpe in Udupi. They are known for their distinctive geological formation of columnar rheological lava. Scientific studies suggest that the basalt of St. Mary’s Islands was formed by sub-Hawaiian subvolcanic activity, as Madagascar was connected to India at the time. about 88 million years ago, Madagascar’s rifling took place. 

Udupi Anantheshwara Temple 

Udupi Anantheshwara Temple is a historic Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Anantheshwara who is known also as Parashurama, Avtar of god Vishnu. The place of worship lies in Udupi. in the 8th century C.E. It was renovated during the reign of Alupas and is considered one of the oldest people in the Tulu Nadu region. It is close to the Shri Chandramouleshwara temple which is the place where Lord Chandra performed penance to please Lord Rudra‘s antaryami Sankarshana. The temple is adjacent to the more famous Udupi Shri Krishna established by Saint Shri Madvacharya, who preached Dwith Darshan in Udupi.

Kudlu Falls

It’s also known as Sita Falls, Kudlu Falls is famous for its scenic beauty. Amid the dense green cover of the hilly area, the falls fall below the Western Ghats at a height of 150 feet. to reach the enchanting waterfall, It needs moderate level trekking through the green zone. The attraction, thus, is a favorite among trekkers and nature lovers.
