Pathankot

Pathankot is a district in the state of Punjab. Pathankot was declared a district of the state of Punjab on July 27, 2011. Pathankot is the 6th largest city in Punjab. Pathankot shares a border with Pakistan. Pathankot is the oldest city in Punjab. It is believed that the ancient name of this city is Audumbara. Numerous coins of great antiquity found at Pathankot prove that it must have been one of the oldest places in Punjab. The Pathania clan of the Rajputs got its name from the ancient name of Pathankot which was Pethan at that time. The city of Pathankot is surrounded by both Shivalik areas. People in Pathankot speak Punjabi and Dogri language.

Mukteshwar Mahadev

Mukteshwar Mahadev Temple is the oldest temple in Pathankot. This temple is associated with the epic events of the Mahabharata. It is believed that the Pandavas camped at Mukteshwar Mahadev Temple during one of their refugee escapades. The temple complex is the abode of revered deities like Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva, Lord Brahma, Lord Hanuman, and Goddess Parvati. This temple is located around the river Ravi. It is also known as Mukesaran Mandir. This temple is believed to be 5500 years old.

Ashapurni Mandir

This temple is considered to be the oldest temple there. This temple is dedicated to the dependent Mata Ashapurni. Renowned among the local inhabitants as a powerful goddess. Shahpurkandi Fort

The fort was built by Rona Bahadur Rajput Chief Jaspal Singh Pathania. Shahpurkandi fort is blessed with natural beauty due to its perfect position with the low hills of the Himalayas. This fort exhibits a beautiful history of Pathani. The fort was named after Shah Jahan by Bhao Singh.

Ranjit Sagar Dam

Kali Mata Ka Mandir

Kali Mata Mandir is dedicated to Goddess Durga. Kali Mata temple is considered to be the most ancient temple. Crowds of devotees are seen in this temple during the Navratri festival.
