Patiala

The city of Patiala was founded in 1763 by Ala Singh. The first settlers of Patiala were the Hindus of Sirhind, who opened their commercial establishments outside the gates of Darshani. The present city of Patiala is located around this fort. One of the independent kingdoms of the Sikhs was the one founded by Baba Ala Singh at Patiala. Ala Singh laid the foundation of the Patiala fort known as Katila Mubarak. This city is considered to be the most famous princely state of Punjab.

Kali Devi Mandir

The temple was built in 1936 by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali. The temple is believed to have been built to protect the city from floods. Due to the beautiful structure of this temple, this temple has been declared a national monument. Here a 6-foot statue of the divine mother Kali and the holy light from Bengal and the first sacrifice of the water buffalo were offered in the temple. According to one estimate, devotees offer more than 60,000 bottles of liquor during the Navratri days alone, which are distributed to beggars sitting outdoors in the temple. There is a ‘Sharab Kund‘ in the temple premises where all the liquor goes

Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib

According to local mythology, there was a boy named Ram who was a Lahar Jivar. He met this Guru and requested him to come to his village and help the people who have been suffering from illness for a long time.

Jupiter agreed to this and the place where Guru Tegh Bahadur was seated when Guru Mug Sudi visited Lehal on 5, 1728 Bk / 24 January 1672, is known as Dukh Nivaran, which literally means Destroyer of Suffering. This Gurudwara is considered very auspicious as it is known for its healing power.

Bahadurgarh Fort

The fort was built in 1658 by the Mughal Nawab Saif. The construction of this fort was completed in 8  years. The fort is built inside two circular walls and a pit. The fort was named by Maharaja Karam Singh as a tribute to Sikh Guru Tegh Bahadur. The fort consists of a historical Gurdwara Sahib named Gurdwara Sahib Patshahi Nauvin. This Gurudwara shows the fine Sikh architecture.

Qila Mubarak complex

The fort was built in 1764 by Maharaja Ala Singh. The whole complex comprises various sections including Ran Baas, Darbar Hall, Qila Androon, with an underground sewerage system within the Qila, and Qila Bahadurgarh. The fort is a derivative of the architectural style of India in the Mughal and Rajput styles. The complex of the fort is built in the Shikhar Palace architectural style.

Sheesh Mahal

The palace was demolished in the 19th century. The palace is part of the famous old Moti Bagh Palace known as Shishmahal. Here is a museum of the world’s largest medal collection by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh. Which attracts the visitor who comes there.
