The former name of Thoothukudi is Tuticorin. Thoothukudi is a port city in the state of Tamil Nadu. The city is located on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal. The town of Thoothukudi is known as the “Pearl City” for catching pearls. Tuticorin is a busy port town hidden away in Tamil Nadu. The city is one of the sea gateways of Tamil Nadu. It is also one of the major seaports in India with a history dating back to the 6th century AD.
