Porbandar is the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi and Sudama. Porbandar is located on the shores of the Arabian Sea. In ancient times Porbandar was known to be Pao Bandar, due to its bread factories that export Pao ruti to Arab nations across the Arabian sea. Colloquial changes in language results in the name change to Porbandar. Porbandar beach is locally known as ‘Chowpati’. The ancient jetties and ports around the coast are proof that it was once a hub of maritime activities. However, there are many other temples and other attractions worth visiting like the Gita Mandir, the Sudama Mandir, the Bird Sanctuary, the Nehru Planetarium, and Rana Bapu’s Mahal among, etc.

The Kirti Mandir was the house of Mahatma Gandhi which has now been converted into a small museum. It was built by Mahatma Gandhi and his wife Kasturba Gandhi. Kirti mandir was built originally by Maharaja Sayaji Rao III in 1936 AD. It is located at the Main bazaar, Manek Chowk. There are life-size oil paintings of Mahatma Gandhi and Kasturba kept side by side in the center of Kirti Mandir. This museum has kept the memories of Mohandas Gandhi and his wife Kasturba Gandhi
Krishna Sudama temple
This Temple Symbol is the two best friend stories.it is the heart of Porbandar. It was established by Sri Ram Devji Jethwa of the Jethwa dynasty between 1902 and 1907 and is dedicated to Lord Krishna’s friend Sudama. Sudama was a devotee as well as a childhood friend of Lord Krishna. This temple dedicated to the friendship between Lord Krishna and his devotee, Sudama.
Porbandar beach is locally known as a chowpati. It is also known as Willingdon Marina Beach. It is the best hangout place for the local public. Porbandar beach is the most famous and amazing attract place in Porbandar. Near a beach is located Huzoor palace is a great tourist spot. It is the best picnic place in Porbandar.
Jambavan cave is located near Porbandar Ranavav village. The cave along with a Shiva Temple and Samadhi of Guru Ramdas Ji is situated. This place is known as the rest house of Jambuwan for the tourist. The place got its name from Jambavan. According to Ramayana, Jambuvan was the king of the Himalayas who helped Lord Rama to find Sita.
