The city of Churu is located in the desert region of Rajasthan. It is also called the gateway to the Thar Desert. It is the administrative headquarters of the district. It is located in the Thar Desert of Rajasthan
In 1649 AD the fort was constructed by Thakur Kushal Singh. The fort was attacked by surat Singh of Bikaner in 1814. in the defense of the fort, Maharaj Shiv Singh uses the ammunition, after it was exhausted, he fires cannonballs which were made of silver.
Surana and Kothari Haveli
Surana Haveli is a group of buildings built during the time of two trading families, the Kothari and Surana clan. The most famous of these is “Malji’s Haveli” which was built by Malji Kothari in about 1925. Built-in the 1870s, the huge Surana double Haveli, which is six storeys tall and it has magnificent doors and windows numbering 1111.
Nathji Ki Chhatri
Nath Ji ki chhatri in Churu is made of Shekhawati Architecture which located in the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan. It has a simple structure of a dome in which a multi-column building is erected by four pillars and a multi-room basement.
The interior of the Chhatris is painted in the same way as the Havelis of the area in some places.
Sethani Ka Johara
In 1899, the widow of Bhagwan Das Bagla made a reservoir at the time of a terrible famine that hit the region. This was done to store water from one monsoon to another and to prevent drought. This is known as a historical place of Churu located at a distance of 5 km from Ratangarh by road.
Fairs in Churu
At Salasar Balaji Temple, 2 fairs are organized in the month of April. On the day of Chaitra Purnima and Ashwin Purnima, a large number of people come to the fair and to worship the Lord.
In the month of Bhadra of the Hindu calendar, a grand fair is organized at the Gogaji temple. This place is located in Churu village which is his birthplace where fairs are organized.
