With a quaint landscape on the Leh-Kargil route, Lamayuru is a small village known as the Moonland of Ladakh. Lamakhuru is very popular for accommodation in the oldest and largest monasteries of Ladakh. However, the claim for its fame is recognized by the surreal spectacular view of moon-like landscapes carved in the mountains. A huge lake had dried up a long time ago, and the protrusion looked like the surface of the moon. It is also often said that, on a full moon night, the field is an extraordinary sight, something not seen on a daily basis. It is the ideal stopover between Kargil-Leh road. 

MoonLand

Moonlight is a fantastic landscape near Lamayuru on Leh-Kargil Road. It is said to be very fondly because the landscapes here are said to be like the moon. It is also often said that, on a full moon night, an extraordinary sight is seen in the area, something not seen every day, which is why it is necessary to visit an area of ​​the city. 

Lamayuru Monastery

The main attraction of the Lamayuru region, the sprawling Lamayuru Monastery, is located at a distance of about 127 km from Leh. Murals, frescoes, and column paintings depicting Kashmiri style Buddhist iconography appear in the monastery. The monastery also has a small temple dedicated to Avalokitesvara, a representation of the compassion of all the Buddhas. Lamayuru Monastery hosts two annual Mask Dance Festival, which is the best time to visit the place. 

Uleytokpo

Known as the western base camp for tourists visiting Ladakh, Uleytokpo is the paradise you are looking for before entering Ladakh. Wanla Gompa

Wanla is a sub-monastery of Lamayuru, provided by a caring monk, who is responsible for daily rituals and entry into the temple. The main image has an Avalokiteshvara in 11-headed form.
