Mysore officially called Mysuru.  its city in the southern part of the state of Karnataka. Mysore is located about 145.2 km southwest of Bangalore at the foot of the Chamundi Mountains and covers an area of ​​152 km2. The Mysore City is the headquarters of the Mysore District and Mysore Division and its city corporation is also responsible for the civic administration of the city.  from 1399 to 1956 for about six centuries, it served as the state capital of Mysore.

The Mysore Palace is a historical palace and the royal residence at Mysore of Karnataka. It is the seat of the Kingdom of Mysore and the official residence of the Wadiyar dynasty. The palace faces the Chamundi Hills to the east and is lies in the center of Mysore. Mysore is generally described as a ‘city of palaces’, and there are seven palaces including this.

However, ‘Mysore Palace’ refers explicitly to this one inside the old fort. The land on which the palace now stands was formerly known as Puragiri and is now known as the Old Fort. in the 14th century, Yaduraya built the first palace inside the old fort, which was demolished and rebuilt several times. After the Old Palace was burnt down, the present structure was built between 1897 and 1912.  after the Taj Mahal, Mysore Palace is now one of the most popular tourist attractions in India, with over 6 million visitors annually.

Chamundeshwari Temple

The Chamundeshwari Temple is a Hindu temple and it’s about 13 km away from the palace city of Mysore. It’s located on the top of Chamundi Hills. the temple is named after Chamundeshwari or Durga, the fierce form of Shakti, A deity revered by the Mysore Maharajas for centuries. Chamundeshwari is called Naada Devathe by the people of Karnataka which means State Goddess. It is located at an average elevation of 838 feet above sea level.

Jaganmohan Palace is a palace in Mysore city. Its construction was completed in 1861 and was initially used by the kings of Mysore,  Wodeyars, as their home. It is now used as a function hall and an art gallery. The palace is one of the seven palaces of Mysore.

Mysore Zoo is officially known as the Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens.  It is located near the Mysore Palace and is spread over 157 acres. It is the oldest and most famous zoo in India and is home to a variety of species. Mysore Zoo is the most popular attraction in the city. The adoption scheme, introduced in the early 2000s, has been successful, relying primarily on entry fees for its finances. Celebrities, organizations, animal lovers, and volunteers from various clubs of the zoo has directly contributed to the welfare of the residents of the zoo.
