Patnitop is a hill station located in the Udhampur district. This place is located near the Chenab river. This place is the plateau of Shivalik Patta. There are three cold springs at this hill station. These springs have medicinal properties. The place is surrounded by dense forests on all sides. The old name of Patnitop was Patan da Talab. Anam means the lake of the princess. It is believed that the princess used to come there to bathe. Billoo ki Powri
Billoo ki Powri is a short distance from Patnitop. There is a staircase of 270 steps at this place. The locals there claim that the place was built by the former king of Chenani as short and easy access to the city of Batote. These steps were around 400 but over time only 270 steps are left. The stairs are carved out of the mountain.
The park is located at Kud and is surrounded by greenery which attracts the tourists who come there. This is one of the famous attractions of the region. As it is part of the lower Himalayan range, its average itude elevation is 1855 m. One of the main attractions in the region is ‘Patisa’, a sweet that the place is known for.
The Sudh Mahadev Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple is the oldest temple there which is 2800 years old. This temple is also known as the place where Baba Roop Nath took samadhi around thousands of years ago. Baba Rupnath’s smoke or ‘eternal flame’ is still burning. The temple houses a Trident natural black marble Lingam, and a mace. There is also a holy spring called Pap Nashni Bowli near the temple that holds the reputation of cleansing the sins of anyone who bathes in it.
Shiva Ghar is a well-known trekking spot near Patnitop. Shiva Ghar has just been given a place for a trekking space. The place also provides trekking equipment for those who come for trekking.
