Srisailam is one such city in Kurnool district in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The city is a holy pilgrimage site for Seism and Shakti sects of Hinduism. The city is situated on the banks of the river Krishna. Many majestic temples in the city are dedicated to Lord Shiva. The city is known for the holy temple of Shiva located there. The city is also known for its wildlife sanctuaries and dams. Srisailam is a hill town. The Nallamala forest ranges with multifarious flora and fauna lie in close proximity to the Srisailam hills.

Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple

Mallikarjun Swamy Temple is located on the south bank of the river Krishna. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple is considered to be one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Shiva. Here Lord Shiva is worshiped as Mallikarjuna. It is one of the only three temples in India in which both Jyotirlinga and Shakti Peethas are revered. Hindu mythology Kartike Kartikeya, the eldest son of Shiva, once got angry and came to Crouch Hills from Kailash. Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati came here and stayed with the names of Arjuna and Mallika. Hence this place and temple are called Mallikarjun.

Nagarjuna Sagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve is the largest tiger reserve in India. This is the largest tiger reserve forest in India. Srisailam Dam and Nagarjunasagar Dam are also located in the reserve. Apart from tigers, there are many other animals like pangolins, sloths, bears, owls, Indian pangolins, chitals, sambar deer, Chevrolets, blackbucks, chinkaras, and quails.

Akkamahadevi caves

Akkamahadevi Cave is located on the perennial side of the river Krishna. The virgin arrangement of the Akkamahadevi caves is a natural wonder. With its naturally formed arch at the entrance which stands without any support of any kind. There are numerous rock-cut natural cave formations in and around this area.

Ista Kameswari Temple 

The Ista Kameswari temple is located inside a cave. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Ishtakameshwari, a form of Goddess Parvati.  One of the features of the idol of the goddess in this temple is that the forehead of the goddess is as soft as human skin, however, the idol is made of stone. The temple is visited not only by devotees but also by history and architecture enthusiasts.
