Chandigarh is a union territory of India as well as its city and district also. Chandigarh is the capital of Haryana state and Panjab state. Chandigarh is bounded on the east by the state of Haryana and on the north, west, and south by the state of Punjab. its urban design and architecture are known internationally. in post-independence India, It was one of the earliest planned cities.
Sukhna Lake is a reservoir at the foothills of the Shivalik Hills of the Himalayas in Chandigarh. in 1958 by damming the Sukhna Cho, a rainwater lake was created which covered a 3km area. it is a seasonal stream that comes down from the Shivalik Hills. Originally, the seasonal flow entered the lake directly, causing heavy debris. It was formerly known as Chakravarti Lake from 1966 to 1976 after Haryana Governor Birendra Narayan Chakraborty. Due to silting the proportion of the lake has been reduced to 56% of its origin.
Zakir Hussain Rose Garden
Zakir Hussain Rose Garden is a botanical garden that spread over 30 acres of land. It has 50,000 rose-plants of 1600 different species. in 1967, Garden was created under the guidance of Dr. M.S. Randhawa. The garden is named after former Indian President Zakir Hussain. The garden has the distinction of being the largest in Asia. there is not only roses plant but The garden has also trees of remedial value.
The Rose Festival, the cultural events in Chandigarh which take place in February and March, are organized in this garden.
Government Museum and Art Gallery
It is the only premier museum of North India which has a collection of Rajasthani miniature paintings, Gandharan sculptures, and Pahari. the existence of this museum is bound with the partition of India in August 1947. on 6 May 1968, The museum was inaugurated by then Chief Commissioner of Chandigarh Dr. M. S. Randhawa.
Chandigarh Capitol Complex
this complex located in sector-1 of India’s Chandigarh city. architect Le Corbusier was designed this complex and it’s a government compound. Chandigarh Capitol Complex become a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2016. It is spread over an area of about 100 acres.
Elante Mall also known as Nexus Malls is a shopping mall in Chandigarh, India. It’s located in a gross rental area of 1,150,000 sq ft. this mall is the seventh-largest in India and second-largest shopping mall in Northern India.
