Jalandhar is a city located in the state of Punjab. The name Jalandhar is derived from the river there. This name means the underwater area. Jalandhar is also known as Trigarta because of its three rivers, Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi. According to Padma Purana, there was a demon king named Jalandhar after whom the city is named. The area of Jalandhar district was a part of the Indus Valley Civilization.

The history of Jalandhar city is divided into three periods. According to the Vedas, the city was founded by Devasya Varma. Other possibilities include that it was the capital of the kingdom of Lava, the son of Rama. In 1849, the city of Jalandhar, now spelled Zulundur, was annexed by the East India Company following observations of Punjab. This city has beautifully preserved the rich heritage, architecture, and culture of Punjab. Jalandhar is considered to be one of the oldest cities in India

Rangla Punjab Haveli

From the traditional dances of Bhangra and Gidda, live puppet shows called Kathputli and traditional Punjabi artifacts of Phulkari and Jutti are performed here. Rangla Punjab Haveli in Jalandhar is a hub where culture, traditional lifestyle, and various art forms of Punjab are exhibited. This is an arena located in a resort. Devi Talab Mandir

Devi Talab Temple is the most famous temple of Jalandhar. This temple is believed to be 200 years old. This temple is known for its blessed water lake. The lake is believed to have all kinds of physical ailments. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga. It is considered one of the 51 Shakti Peeths of India. There is a tank in the temple premises, which is as old as the temple is also considered a sacred one and there is also a temple of Lord Shiva in the temple which shows a picture of him sitting on a tiger.

 Jang-e-Azadi Memorial

This is a place dedicated to the brave heart of Punjab who lost his life for the freedom of India. The dome-shaped architecture and white pale ceiling are amazing. St. Mary’s Cathedral

The church was built between 1985-1990. This church is built on the site of its old church. The old church was built in 1847. The cathedral is decorated with fragrant flowers, gardens, and a gallery called ‘Rosary Villa‘, which features images of Jesus Christ and Mother Mary.

Nehru Park

 Nehru Park is the oldest park in the city. This park is before independence. Before independence, the park was known as ‘The Company Garden‘.Recently, new lighting and musical fountains were installed in the center of the park. The oldest clock tower of the city was carefully engineered and still stands as an ordinary attraction point of the park.
